1. Who We Are

CGPAnaija ("we", "us", "our") is a free online CGPA calculator and educational resource for Nigerian university students, accessible at cgpanaija.netlify.app (and shortly at cgpanaija.com).

We are not a registered company — CGPAnaija is an independent educational web service. For privacy enquiries, contact us at cgpanaija@outlook.com.

2. What Data We Collect

Data You Provide Directly

• Feedback form submissions: If you submit feedback through our form, we collect your name (optional), feedback type, and message. This is sent to our email via Web3Forms.
• GPA calculations: The course grades and units you enter into the calculator are processed entirely in your browser. We do NOT store or transmit your academic data to any server.

Data Collected Automatically

• Usage data: Pages visited, time spent, buttons clicked, scroll depth — collected via Google Analytics (GA4).
• Device data: Browser type, operating system, screen size, device type.
• Location data: Approximate city-level location (not your exact address) derived from your IP address.
• Referral source: How you arrived at our site (e.g. WhatsApp, Google search, direct link).
• IP address: Collected by Google Analytics but anonymised and not stored by CGPAnaija directly.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• Your name, email or phone number (unless you voluntarily submit feedback)
• Your exact GPS location
• Your university name or student ID
• Payment information (our service is free)
• Your GPA or course results (these stay in your browser only)

3. How We Use Your Data

• To improve the website: Analytics help us understand which pages and features students find most useful.
• To fix bugs: Error tracking helps us identify and fix technical problems.
• To respond to feedback: If you submit feedback, we use your message to improve the service.
• To measure content performance: We track which articles are read most to guide future content creation.
• For advertising (future): We may use anonymised audience data if we run Google AdSense ads in future. All ad data will be handled by Google in accordance with their policies.

We do not use your data for profiling, automated decision-making, or any purpose beyond improving CGPAnaija.

4. Cookies and Tracking

CGPAnaija uses cookies and similar technologies. Here is what is used and why:

5. Third-Party Services

CGPAnaija uses the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:

• Google Fonts — Google Privacy Policy
• CountAPI (anonymous counters) — No personal data collected

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to any third party. We do not share your data with advertisers except through anonymised Google Analytics audiences, which cannot identify you individually.

6. Your Rights

Regardless of where you are located, you have the right to:

• Access — Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you
• Deletion — Request that we delete your personal data
• Correction — Request correction of inaccurate data
• Opt out — Opt out of analytics tracking at any time
• Withdraw consent — Withdraw any consent you have given at any time

Note: Because we use Google Analytics which anonymises IP addresses, we may not be able to identify or retrieve data linked to a specific individual. The feedback you submit via our form can be deleted upon request.

7. NDPR Compliance — Nigeria Data Protection Regulation

CGPAnaija complies with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) 2019 issued by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

• We collect only data that is necessary for the service we provide
• We do not transfer Nigerian users' personal data to countries without adequate data protection
• We do not process sensitive personal data (health, religion, political views, financial data)
• We maintain reasonable security standards to protect data from unauthorised access

8. GDPR Compliance — European Users

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), our legal basis for processing your data is Legitimate Interest — specifically, our interest in understanding how the site is used so we can improve it for students.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Our Google Analytics implementation uses anonymised IP addresses and we do not run personalised advertising targeting European users.

9. Children's Privacy

CGPAnaija is designed for university students who are typically 17 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted personal data through our feedback form, please contact us at hello@cgpanaija.com and we will delete it immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our service grows or as legal requirements change. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

Continued use of CGPAnaija after changes to this policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
